SECTION 508 & ACCESSIBLE DESIGN
There are two types of accessible web design:
- Basic accessibility - meeting Section 508 guidelines
- Advanced accessibility - exceeding Section 508 guidelines by incorporating recommendations from the W3C's WAI Priorities I-III
I create accessible web designs by mixing:
- Standards-compliant XHTML
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
- Accessible Flash components
- A wide variety of publishing programs
The combination makes it easy to create beautifully rich designs that are still completely accessible - and tested across a suite of online accessibility testers including Watchfire's WebXACT, Wave, HiSoftware, Cynthia Says and others.
This website is an example of a rich graphic design that meets and exceeds Section 508 standards for accessibility.
