ACCESSIBILITY

SECTION 508 TRAINING AND SEMINARS

Making the commitment to creating accessible products is more cost effective than trying to re-engineer an inaccessible product. Accessibility requires creativity, ingenuity, and an understanding of the many ways people may access your content. Accessibility training for your design team makes sure that everyone is on the same page.

Content: Does your content contain visual cues (to the right, click here) or omit detail based upon the assumptions made by those viewing pictures? More specific detail and plain English makes it easier to read and understand your content.

Navigation and Direction: Are interrelated elements visually separated on the page? Do you rely upon purely visual navigation like clickable arrows, or small items such as tiny triangles serving as a cue to expand a menu? Can you empower your drop-down navigation menus without using a mouse? Do you have a tabindex?

Layout: Does the overall design include consistent and reliable placement of items? If you were to land on a random page within your website, with your eyes closed, how long would it take you to orient yourself?
